Catholic Life of the School

You will be able to keep up to date with important events that mark the Catholic Life of the school.

We have enjoyed a fantastic Advent season, with wonderful Christmas performances from EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. Alongside these celebrations, the children have been preparing for Christmas by creating an Advent wreath and a Jesse Tree, helping us focus on the true meaning of Christmas and ensuring that Christ remains at the centre of all we do.

Dear Graeme, Paul and Cathedral School Staff,

Thank you so much for a wonderful occasion this evening. The children shone like stars! This testament to your hard work and diligence in preparing them for such an amazing performance. From the choir, the duets and soloists not to mention the choreography!

It was very well attended too. I’m sure the parents, carers and guardians left today feeling very proud of their children, again it’s thanks to your hard work.

I’m told you break up a week on Friday. You’re nearly there! I look forward to working with you all in the new year after a well earned Christmas break.

God bless, Father Adam

We were delighted to celebrate Advent Mass with Father Adam today. It was his first Mass at our school, and he shared how impressed he was with the children’s singing and participation. In his homily, he encouraged us to reflect on how we can build strong foundations in our lives by following the teachings of Jesus.

We were delighted to welcome the Pilgrimage Icon from our sister school, St Patrick’s in Wellington. Mr Hawes led a whole-school liturgy to mark this special occasion, bringing our communities together in prayer and reflection.

Throughout this school year, we have been taking time to reflect on what it truly means to feel the warmth of hope, especially during this Jubilee Year. Hope is more than a word—it is a light that guides us through challenges and inspires us to look forward with confidence and faith. In our classrooms, assemblies, and daily interactions, we have explored how hope shapes our choices, strengthens our community, and reminds us of God’s promise.
